Rosy Lane Campground is located 17 miles from Gunnison, Colo., in the Taylor River Canyon. Visitors enjoy the area for its rafting, fishing and trail opportunities.
The Taylor River can be accessed from the campground, and offers a calm stretch for rafting and kayaking. Anglers cast for rainbow and brook trout.
The Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area is nearby. The Summerville and South Lottis trailheads provide access to the scenic, natural area.
A number of off-road trails are found in the surrounding area, including Doctor Park Trail, Taylor River Trail and Taylor Vista Trail.
The campground offers single-family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Site 008 has 15-Amp electric hookups. Site 004 is accessible.
The campground lies on the banks of the Taylor River, at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Most sites are shaded by a stand of lodgepole pine and aspen trees.
Taylor Park Reservoir is about 12 miles from the campground, with boating, fishing and swimming. A boat ramp and boat rentals are available.
From Gunnison, Colo., travel north on Colorado Highway 135 for 10 miles, to Almont. Turn right (northeast) on Taylor Canyon Road and proceed 7 miles to the campground entrance, which is on the left side of the road.
The campground is very well maintained and the vault toilets are spotlessly clean. A few of the campsites are setup very poorly as they are just a few feet from the road. It gets real noisy when the trucks and motorcycles run up/down the road. Luckily for me I fall asleep easily and stay asleep. The campsites that are closer to the river are very nice.
Beautiful campground, nicely laid out with large sites, big picnic tables. Although the pit toilets are clean, they were not serviced in 5 days and they ran out of toilet paper our second day and have not been restocked. This is not a ‘free’ BLM campground so would expect the bathrooms to be serviced regularly.
Otherwise a nice stay on the river.
Seriously an amazing campground!! Right off of Taylor River, big spacious sites for either campers or tents. Quiet even though it's right off the main road, no noise disturbance at night. Camp host Tracy is very welcoming and a lovely person who made us feel right at home! Bathrooms are well maintained.
There is a walking path along the rivers edge and tons of room for kids to explore! Will be coming back again!! We loved out stay and can't wait for another visit!
Great campsites along the Taylor River. We have stayed here several times. Campsites 1-2 and 15-19 are adjacent to the county road, which has little traffic after 10:30 pm. Site 3 is our favorite so far. It is a walk-up site, meaning nobody can reserve it months in advance. Site 3 has a short path leading to the river.
Great place to camp. No hookups, but a beautiful quiet campground. Camped next to Taylor River, beautiful site. The host was exceptional. 2nd time camping there. Will definitely go back.
