Beautiful place to visit. Not a bad hike to the falls. Short cut vs the long. Took the long way and enjoyed it very much. Wanted to take in the fall colors and wasn't disappointed.
Quite the little gem of central Alabama. Easy hike with a spectacular view. Plenty of camp sites for overnight trips.
No fee to walk to the falls. Parking up on the main road, it's about a 5 mile hike through the woods to the falls. There's a couple parking spots closer to the direct path to the falls on the gravel road but there usually occupied. That being about a 3 mile hike. Both options are over all moderately flat and offer a great opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest. There is one spot if the waters up you might get your feet wet.
The Cheaha Falls are beautiful! When you are almost there the trail will split Left and Right.
Left 👍(Left takes you to the bottom of the falls to swim). Going right will take you to the top of the falls. The pool at the bottom of the falls is nice for swimming. Watch your footing, the rocks are slippery when wet. The water is shallow in some spots and deep in other areas. It is surrounded by rocks and trees. Well worth the hike! Enjoy!
