About Campground

Black Bear Cabin retreat is a cozy cabin nestled in the West Virginia mountains, with everything you need for your getaway.

The highlights:

- Relax in the outdoor hot tub!

- Grill on our huge deck, or hang out around the fire pit

- Play in the small stream just a short walk from the cabin

- Enjoy fast WiFi for movies & video calls

- Drive 15 mins to Cacapon State Park for great hiking & golf -- or 20 mins into Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants & shopping

Enjoy!

The Space:

Our family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for couples, families or small groups of friends.

The cabin includes:

- 2 bedrooms + a loft sleeping area (four beds total)

- A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill

- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing

- Spa tub right off the master bedroom

- Fast WiFi that's good enough to stream movies and hold video calls

- Fully-stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, stove/oven, and microwave

- AC unit in the master bedroom

- Wood fireplace to keep you cozy at night

- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang

Our cabin also has private access to Sleepy Creek, just a quick 15 min walk from the cabin. It's a shallow creek most of the year, but great for cooling off in the summer and for the kids to hunt frogs and crawfish. :)

We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly.

One thing to note: about 100 yards to the right of the back deck are high-voltage power lines that you can see through the trees. There's no safety issue or anything, but wanted to make sure you're aware.

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are -- particularly Great Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs. The park is free to enter and has miles of hiking trails, a beach and small lake, golf course, horse stables, and a clay shooting range. And the town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US; the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint!

Guest Access:

You'll have the cabin and surrounding property to yourselves. You can also access the small stream a short walk down the road.

Interaction with Guests:

Tony can be reached via cell/text during your stay, and a property manager can be onsite for any issues that arise.

This place is amazing. The seclusion is perfect for a real getaway. The cabin had everything that we needed. The owners were wonderful to deal with. The recommendations in the area were helpful. The hot tub was very nice, they sky was polluted with gorgeous beautiful stars. We couldn't have asked for anything better, simply perfect getaway. Would highly recommend and would stay here again in the future.

We had a wonderful mini honeymoon. The owners worked with us when we arrived early, helped collect firewood information and very easy to work with overall. The cabin itself was well stocked, wonderful views, close to everything but oh so private. We rarely talk about going back somewhere and both agreed we would go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I stayed at this cabin when we were visiting the new river for a rafting trip. We absolutely loved it. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The owners were quick to respond if we needed anything and very kind. We would highly recommend a stay at this cabin to anyone! And we will certainly be back!

We had booked this beautiful Chalet for 6 days in June as part of a planned one month road trip. We were planning to stay at this beautiful home as a home base for exploring the New River Gorge National River area. Unfortunately we had to cancel our entire trip due to the CoVid pandemic.

Shanna and Paul were very responsive and super helpful when we were making our initial reservation. They were equally helpful when we had to cancel and promptly insured we received a full refund.

I hope that we can re-book with Shanna and Paul in the future as their Sleepy Hollow Chalet is exactly what we are looking for and managed by SUPER HOSTS. Thanks again Shanna & Paul

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful location. The chalet was very clean and well kept. The surrounding area is very secluded, quiet and peaceful. The owners were easy to work with and communication was always fast and easy. It felt like we were a million miles away from the world! We stayed over New Years 2020/2021. The weather was not great but that didn't keep us from exploring all that the New River Gorge area has to offer! We can't wait to return!
