About Campground

Tucker's Retreat is a cozy cabin nestled in the West Virginia mountains, with everything you need for your getaway.

The standouts:

- Relax in the outdoor hot tub!

- Grill and relax on our 20 foot deck

- Walk 5 min down the hill to fish in our small private lake (& relax on the beach)

- Drive 5 min to Cacapon State Park for hiking, golf, & horseback riding (you can literally hike from our cabin straight into the park!)

- Drive 15 min into Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, and dozens of festivals

Enjoy!

The Space:

Our large, family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for groups large and small.

The cabin includes:

- 3 bedrooms + a large basement sleeping area with three more beds

- Chalet-style lofted ceiling with large windows that let in tons of light

- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing

- A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill

- Kitchen with a dishwasher

- Central heat and AC (it gets hot outside in WV in the summer!)

- The fastest WiFi you can get in the WV mountains (25 Mbps)

- Downstairs pool table

- TV with dozens of movies, DVD player, and Roku

- Outside fire pit

Note: we have an indoor fireplace, but unfortunately it's not usable and is only decorative.

Our cabin also has access to a small private lake (shared with just a few other cabins). It's about a 100-yard walk down the hill from our place. The walk is a bit rocky and steep, but you can also drive down there as well (less than 5 minutes). There's a beach and a dock -- and another floating platform in the middle of the lake -- and it's stocked with fish (we've caught bluegills, bass, and catfish). We've gone swimming many times in the lake, but depending on the season it can often be murky / full of algae. So consider this more of a fishing lake. :)

We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. We have a pack 'n play for sleeping, a high chair, and plenty of toys and children's books.

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are. We're nestled in the Cacapon Mountains, directly next to Cacapon Resort State Park. The park is free to enter, and has a ton of activities -- including another lake and beach, clay shooting, horseback riding, an 18-hole golf course, and miles of hiking trails.

Lastly, you can get to the city of Berkeley Springs in about 15 minutes. The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint.

Guest Access:

You'll have the cabin and surround property to yourselves. You can also access the shared private lake.

Interaction with Guests:

Tony can be reached via cell/text during your stay, and a property manager can be onsite for any issues that arise.

The Neighborhood:

Tucker's Retreat is just south of the city of Berkeley Springs, and feels like a world away from everything. The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains on a quiet gravel road, directly adjacent to Cacapon State Park.

We love our private lake and beach. We often go fishing in the lake (and sometimes swimming when the water is clear). It's small, but it's perfect on a hot summer day. We have a few water shoes you can use, but please consider bringing your own flip flops or water shoes; the lake can sometimes get a little muddy near the beach.

When it comes to hiking and other outdoor activities, Cacapon State Park is right next door and has a ton to offer. There's no entrance fee, and there are dozens of hiking trails over 6,000 acres. Better yet, they have a ton of other activities like an 18-hole golf course, horseback riding, clay shooting (with guns/clays you can rent), and another lake/beach. We love it.

About a 10 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!

Getting Around:

There's plenty of parking on site. We're about a 15 min drive from Berkeley Springs.

We had a few problems. The coffee pot had mold growing in it and some one elses dirty sock were found under the living room table. Also the back door didn't want to lock and the couch was broken. It was a beautiful cabin that we enjoyed aside from these things.

Will definitely plan another trip there. The black out curtain on the front door made our winter getaway feel so secluded! The bathtub has jets, the hot tubs light was out, glad we brought our solar lantern.

This cabin was an amazing getaway! It smelled nice, had wifi, was very cute inside, warm and comfy with gas fireplaces, and included a hot tub, which was extremely relaxing . I recommend it, as I will definitely book it again.

Cabin was a perfect location for our girls getaway trip. We like how it had a mountain woods feeling while at the same time being close by to everything! After a long day of kayaking on the nearby lake, we really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and sitting around the fire. Cabin was clean and comfortable. The owners were immediately responsive when we accidentally locked ourselves out. The only thing that could’ve been better would to have an outside light in the back near the hot tub and fire pit. I would suggest bringing a lantern and power strip to plug in phones if you have more than 2 guests.
