Many folks come here to swim, but the park is more than a great swimming hole. Beautiful scenery and colorful history await, just a short drive from San Antonio and Austin.
Things to Do
With four miles of river frontage, the Guadalupe River takes center stage at the park. Step away from the river to find the more peaceful areas.
On the river, you can swim, fish, tube and canoe. While on land, you can camp, hike, ride mountain bikes or horses, picnic, geocache, and bird watch. We loan fishing gear for use in the park.
Camp at one of 85 water and electric campsites or nine walk-in tent sites.
The park is located in Comal and Kendall counties, 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio at the north end of Park Road 31. To get there, travel west on State Highway 46, eight miles west of the intersection of State Highway 46 and U.S. Highway 281, or travel east on State Highway 46, 13 miles east of Boerne.

Our trip was pretty fun other than the closeness of the camp sites. We could see our neighbors on both sides pretty much the entire time and had very little privacy. Camp sites were about 100 feet apart or less. Definitely won’t be camping here again just because of how close we were to other campers, but we did find an armadillo which was pretty cool. I would recommend Guadalupe River SP for a day trip rather than camping.
