Shady campsites and a creek running along side make Lower Rush Creek Campground a great getaway destination. Trailers larger than 22 feet are not recommended. In the winter months roads may become soft or impassable. Please do not create resource damage by driving on soft roads or saturated soil. Remember the weather can change quickly and you do not want to be unprepared for extreme conditions.
From Adin travel north on Hwy139/299 7.6 miles to County Road 198. Turn right on County Road 198 and go .1 mile to Rush Creek Dr/Lower Rush Creek Road. Turn left and continue on .5 miles to Lower Rush Creek Campground.
There is an upper and lower rush campground, the upper one is very tight and really best for tent Camping but not an an RV. Lower rush is pretty tight but we have a very small RV and it was absolutely lovely place to stay, we were only there one night so did not take advantage of hiking so cannot come in about that .
The place is not well taken care of it has toilets and there was toilet paper this time but no potable water. I did have the place to myself. I did not travel the extra 2 miles or so up the road to the 2nd camp which I may do next time permitting daylight. No cell service whatsoever but we but when you get back to the pavement you do have signal. There's a town on 299 a few miles before be sure to stop and eat there if you're not prepped to cook yourself.
The neighbors called the cops on us for having truck running after dark and trying to fix it.
Surprisingly developed for BLM land. On the plus side, having trash bins and picnic tables is very handy.
I bit dusty closer to the road, but I preferred that to the mosquitos near the stream. Neither one was significant. I was more concerned about the pup finding a plague infected nest. (Kept him on a leash per the suggestion on the sign).
Up past the river, there's a human crossing past the barbed wire to a very steep hill, North looked like someone's backyard, right after a historical site (a land boundary).
The stream is cool and meandering.
Nice uncovered spots. Bathroom was stocked and appeared to be recently built.
