We had the best stay here during the 4th of July week. We got the campground across from the store and next to the lake. It was so convenient! The store clerk was absolutely the most helpful, sweet person she made our stay that much better. The campground and the bathrooms are clean. Plenty for the kids to do such as swimming, fishing, basketball, and volleyball. The campground is about 20mins from Burney Falls. Also there is free Wi-Fi. It was our first time here and we will def be back again:)
We were under the impression that Hat Creek was accessible from here but it is not really. They have a pay lake that is good for kids or someone that is practicing. Very cool camp with cabins and group campers. We had some loud neighbors that had music going later in the evening and the camp host shut that down right away. At first, the girl at the counter in the store was quite short with somewhat of a rude attitude, but we could tell she didnt like tourists like us. We talked to some other locals and they told us how to get to Hat Creek to fish. Word to the wise, Hat Creek in this area is basically like a country club with fences and weir dams and lots of no trespassing signs
We had an awesome stay at this campground. Booking online was super easy and I appreciate that I was able to see exactly which spots were available, as not all sites allow that. Hat Creek is a beautiful area near Burney Falls and about an hour from McCloud. Both offer amazing waterfalls and hikes. Lassen Volcanic National Park is just to the south of the campground and has lots of outdoor activities as well. The campground itself is idyllic. It's surrounded by an actual ranch property with cows and goats and several of the sites back up to the ranch meadow land. You're tucked back off the road enough that it feels totally safe to let your kids run around and explore. There's a great fishing pond (stocked) and my kids all caught rainbow trout. The front part of the pond is roped off as a swimming area and has a small beach. We loved hanging out there and watching the kids swim. Across the way is a cool playground with a very tall swing set, tether ball, volleyball and open grass area. The office is clean and well stocked. The bathrooms are rustic, but cute and clean and the front bathroom offers showers. We were back in the 90's that backed up to the meadow and enjoyed a large site and gorgeous night skies. The only real negative was that the office didn't seem to keep consistent hours, but Kenya that worked in the office was very nice and welcoming. We will definitely come back soon!
We stay here every year - have been for years and years. We absolutely love it! The people are wonderful, the scenery is beautiful and the weather is nearly perfect. We love the fishing and swimming pond with beach, watching the turtles on the "island" .... the store is great (although we were there late in the season and the ice cream and candy stock was low). We do alot of geocaching and the area is loaded with caches - we love to pole and fly fish and there are so many opportunities to do so. Bike riding is great, as there are alot of level areas to ride and they are safe, too. This is one of our very favorite trips every year and we look forward to it all year long!
Rooms for this review will be RV spots. Very nice RV park. Fishing is worth the money. There are plenty of spots for those looking to tent camp, trailer/RV camp, or little cabins. Minutes away from Burney Falls, Hat Creek, and other local attractions. This is a yearly trip for us.
