Fort Goff Campground is located on the banks of the Klamath River. This lovely little wayside campground has 5 walk-in campsites and a historic cemetery across the road. There is a pay phone here. Access to the river is by foot path. Access for rafts, boats and kayaks is at Portuguese Creek River Access, less than one mile east on Hwy 96.
From I-5, west on Hwy 96 approx. 50 miles to the campground on the left.
Single pit toilet. Small, walk-in sites only. Lots of poison oak. Directly adjacent to the road. Easy trails to the river (less than 100 feet).
Disappointing. My family drove a long way to try out this campsite based on the positive reviews. I've stayed at a lot of national, state park, and national forest campsites and this is one of the saddest little campsites I've seen. Literally right along the road with giant lumber trucks roaring by every couple of minutes. Zero privacy. Basically feels like you are in the backyard of the many of the homes adjacent to it. The river also has very large algae blooms, making it unsafe for swimming for kids or drinking per State websites. Very underwhelming.
Very nice campsite next to the highway. Heard cars going by most of the night but the campground made up for the noise.
Sweet little first come, first serve forest service campground with no fees. ~5 sites. Restroom and access to the river. Plenty of shade, fire pits, tables. Pack out your trash. Look out for poison oak.
