Located on the east side of the South Warner Wilderness, this campground and picnic area also serve as the staging area for the Emerson Trail into the wilderness. This free campground is fairly secluded due to the narrow, steep, rough, dirt access road. Campsites are mostly shady and set back from the parking area in the trees. There is no water at Emerson Campground.
From Cedarville go south approximately 16 miles on County Road 1/Surprise Valley Rd. Turn right on County Road 40 and continue approximately 3 miles to the end and the Emerson Campground.
Best camp for Scout to visit, lots of fun activities to do.
Been there 3 times now with our troop and it's been great every time. Only complaint is the soft dirt kicks up a lot when we're walking around, but there's nothing you can do about that.
The Boy Scouts and cub scouts love this place. It's lovely scenery provides a great learning environment for various scout related goals. Most Recently, Zombie Apocalypse Camp hosted older scouts and taught survival skills, wilderness training, and more all in a fun themed environment.
We came early for Eerie Emerson and hiked up to Centennial Oak campground. Unfortunately, the fall leaves covered the trail and we had to search for it for an hour. For future campers, here are the coordinates:

It's a beautiful location...enjoy!
