Administered by the Six Rivers National Forest, Wooley Creek has 4 small horse corrals but no water. There are 2 tables, a vault restroom and a water tub for horses is provided.
From Orleans go north on Hwy 96 approx 8 miles to Somes Bar and turn east on county road 2B01 toward Forks of Salmon. Wooley Creek Trailhead is on the left approx 4 miles.
The trail head leads to a very steep switchback trail that gains a few hundred feet very quickly on loose rock. A narrow pack trail at that point, the trail follows along the hillside passing through a variety of forest zones. Not a lot of easily accessible camping locations, and minimal epic vistas. This trail is OK if you wanna go hiking, but it's appeal is limited.
