We went earlier in the summer before the usual camping rush and practically had the entire place to ourselves. Absolutely beautiful weather and was not too cold. Highly recommend for any family, couple, or friends who want a nice trip to enjoy the water or go hiking. Campsites were well maintained and the groundskeeper’s were very kind. Will be visiting again soon!

If your needing a place to boondock in the California High Desert this is a wonderful location. Note... The map location is really just the beginning of a dirt road that travels along the lake shore for about a mile. It is a bit rough in some areas though a passenger vehicle can manage. Most trucks won't have a problem but trailers and RVs should be very cautious. I drove my F350 Dually with a 3000lb Bigfoot camper and didn't have any trouble but it was a slow drive. Just about the time where you wonder if there is an actual campsite you will come up over a small rise and it opens up into a very large gravel turnaround area. There are two outhouses here tucked near the hillside (I drove in at night so I didn't even know they where there until the morning) that where very clean and kept. I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise in the morning and absolute peace and quite, not another soul in the area. Note that this is more akin to beach camping than campground camping. There are fire rings scattered about but no actual designated campsites. Find a spot in the gravel area and setup camp. Shade is limited to scrub brush and some medium size trees closer to the hills. There is an area to launch a boat though it's not an actual boat launch, more of an area where you can back into the lake. This is probably best for lightweight aluminum fishing boats that don't have issues with shallow water. Finally, there is a donation box at the entrance to the road. This site is actually free but please consider dropping what you can into the box as it helps to fund cleaning of the outhouse and maintenance of the road.

Really great place, amazing hiking spot, beautiful views, I recommend hiking to the tops of the hills for the best results, it's amazing up there, 10/10, would recommend. (Detailed: boat launching spots, two permanent bathrooms, temporary extras are put in place during busy times, swimming access, parking, lots of space for trailers and camping.)

This place is beautiful

This is an entirely undeveloped campground. Self contained only.

Kudos for having the cleanest latrine I have ever been in.
