Happy Camp lies at the heart of recreation in northern California. River rafting, gold panning, wilderness hiking and scenic driving are all popular activities in the summer. Spring and fall offer the best weather and lower fire danger. Winter snowshoeing and cross country skiing can provide opportunities unmatched for solitude.
From I-5, west on Hwy 96 approx. 63 miles to Happy Camp. The Office is located at 63822 Hwy 96 in the heart of Happy Camp. Look for the Smokey Bear sign.
Great customer service. The ranger at the front counter was eager to help with questions, very positive person, excellent representative of USFS.
Stopped here briefly in 7/2005. Not the only FS Station in town--there's a historic brown station on another street where I believe fire crews are based. Also a station at the airport.
