This was our first time up at Big Bear and it was so gorgeous and the kids had a blast!

I was worried that we’d miss the snow but there was between 1-3 feet! It was in the 30°-50°+ range every day and the snow was very much crunchy ice on top.

This will be a longer review as I couldn’t really find much current information from visitors.

The property is undergoing renovations and there are brand new ADA-compliant cabins which look super nice! The regular cabins were great! The beds have memory-foam toppers, rustic feel, warm water. The kitchen had a new fridge, microwave, gas range (No oven) pots, pans, griddle, grill tools, dishes and plates, sponge and soap, coffee maker.

No filters, coffee, or food available on site but there’s a Vons less than 2 miles away.

They only let you burn enviro-logs or similar which is kind of a dumb policy. They sell some on site but they suck and don’t burn well ($7/ea). Bring your own!

The couch pulls out into a bed by pushing forward from the back. The heater works well and there are portable space-heaters for the back room.

The cabins have TVs but they aren’t connected to anything. There isn’t wifi but we had between 1-2 bars of LTE/5G.

They have sleds to borrow. There is a community fire pit with wood (pictured). Each cabin and RV site has picnic tables and charcoal grills.

The cabins had towels and toiletries, a snow shovel, a small Rubbermaid shed, extra blankets, hangers up in the loft but not in the master. There is a bear-proof trash bin by the playground where you take your trash when it’s full, but it’s less than 3 minutes walk.

The road to get in (winter season) is in rough shape so consider the vehicle you drive up here. The roads were all in fine condition but we were still required to carry chains.

There are some geocaches and a trail nearby. I would have liked if the trail was better marked.

Jamie, the manager, and his staff were all fantastic and we will be recommending to all of our friends to come up to the MCCS Big Bear Rec. Facility!

The experience at this site was wonderful. We didnt have a reservation and our trip ended up taking up to big bear after we found out that most of Yosemite was closed. The wonderful Staff were able to accomidate us in a wonderful campsite looking out towards the woods. The showers and bathrooms are extremely clean and great to have at the site. It wasnt too crowded even during memorial weekend and Jamie's customer service was above reproach. 10/10 would recommend based on site location, bathrooms and showers, and customer service.

We had an amazing time here! The cabins were very nice, but what really blew us away was how helpful Jamie (the site manager) and Leo were. We were there for the week leading up to the monster snow storm. They were always out and about with a great attitude and were helpful as we made plans for whether to stay or leave early. When the snow got really crazy we decided to leave Big Bear while we still could. Leo and Jamie came by and ran the snowblower around and in front of our truck making it significantly easier to load the family and get out. Thank you guys! Outstanding service!! We can't wait to go back again.

This is really an awesome property for military families. The recent makeover and renovations only make it better! Secluded, yet close to town. You can even walk to Snow Summit for some skiing & snowboarding. Keep an eye out for bears….
