Large grass area on a Lake. You’re officially allowed to camp here for a maximum of 5 days. The campground has 6 spots for an electric hook-up at $20 per day. But is free if no electricity is needed. It's just 10 minutes away from the highway, but very quiet.
Very crowded and windy place to camp. Better to camp near Chamberlain.
We camped with our trailer in the field by the lake as a stopover place to spend the night when traveling from CO. The mosquitoes are bad at night and early morning, but fine during the day. We had cooler than average temperatures that night, so it was a perfect night to simply sleep with the windows open, no power needed. The fish in the lake were jumping like crazy all night and all morning at the bugs. There are large mouth bass and walleye in the lake, and hearing them jumping made us really wish that we had SD fishing licenses because I'm sure you could have caught fish all evening/morning long on the lake. Overall, a beautiful spot in a place that we otherwise would likely never have visited.
