About Campground

Whitetail Creek Resort (property once know as Whitetail Court Resort) is a smaller property with several different types of accommodations to include RV site, camping cabins, yurts, cabins, and motel rooms. All the accommodation options line up along Whitetail Creek, just 5 miles from Deadwood and 2 miles from the town of Lead. We have 2 approved fire pit locations with wood supplied. Whitetail Creek Resort also offers two 4-man barrel steam saunas, and a 25'x30' beam-framed creek-side pavilion with 2 big screen TVs, octagon picnic tables, gas fire pit, and an "on-demand" bar. Next to the pavilion is a large wood fire pit that can accommodate around 12 people. Our yurt camping area (3 yurts) is located across the creek. It has its own private fire pit. Whitetail Creek Resort is located on ATV/Snowmobile trail 5W and 1/3 mile from the Mickelson Trail (hiking/biking/horse-back riding).

We stayed in one of their cabins and it was wonderful. The staff is super friendly, the facilities are clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. The price was also fantastic, little subtleties that they provide for free or cheap that other places will often charge severely for really gave me the impression that they aren't trying to scam people, just provide nice lodging for travelers.

We decided to go on an impromptu trip to Deadwood and I don't have enough good words for this place! The room was huge and very clean, and the location is perfect- the creek running right along the back and the decks outside of the rooms made it a beautiful, quiet place to wind down after a night out in Deadwood- my boyfriend and I were even talking about getting married here in the future as the scenery and location is PERFECT.

The owner and I talked for about a half hour at checkout and she made sure everything was great and we were able to talk so freely like we'd known each other forever, as she's a speech pathologist and I run a preschool. Super sweet lady, we will definitely be back!

The cabin was small. That's not a criticism just a fact that if you are arriving with a tonne of gear or luggage things will get tight.

The cabins are vintage and extremely well kept. Very clean. Everything worked. We had zero issues.

The owner was very helpful and courteous. The motel had ample outdoor space for socializing and barbecuing.

It's also a great location just outside of Lead and close to Spearfish Canyon.

A last minute reservation turned into a perfectly memorable stay in the Black Hills. My daughter and I came in late (please note, they do not want you arriving after the office closes at 9 which was an oversight on my part), and got settled in for the night...we woke up to a beautiful property with amenities that go above and beyond most locations. The family friendly back yard pavilion was perfect for meals, hammock chairs perfect for relaxing, babbling brook perfect for drowning out life, cozy yurt perfect to call home, comfortable bed perfect for a good night sleep, camp fire started by owner perfect to end the night.... it was a wonderful stay. The owner CJ was accommodating and helpful for all the things. The locations was great and the grounds were exceptionally clean. Thank you for a weekend my daughter described as a "perfect adventure with mom." You made it easy to bring the magic.

Absolutely amazing resort, would highly recommend if you're staying in the Lead/Deadwood area!

We stayed in the comfort queen cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The cabin is located along the creek, which is absolutely beautiful. Not to mention the sound of running water makes falling asleep very easy. The resort is close to many hiking/ATV trails, although, the resort itself provides a lot of fun activities as well! You can fish in the creek, hangout in their new pavilion or sauna, play cornhole, or just hang around the fire. Plenty of things to keep you and your family busy.

The owners are super friendly and will always stop what they're doing to help.
