Buttercup Campground is a great place to camp! As a new camper owner, I was apprehensive about taking my camper out for the first time. I cannot say enough about the owners, Ed, Barb and Christie and all of the help and support they provided. From helping me back in to showing me how to set up and hook up.
The campground is well maintained with plenty of activities and the employees are super friendly and helpful.
Thanks for providing me with an A+ first camping experience. I will be back!
My husband and I were visiting family and as we were pulling in (going 5 MPH which is the campground speed limit) one of the lifeguards (an older woman) started shrieking and screaming that we were going too fast. We slowed down to 3 MPH and the owner, Ed, pulled up to us and yelled “You need to slow down!” I very politely told him that I was indeed going 5 MPH to which he rolled his eyes and said “sure you were”. I said “sir, there is no need to be disrespectful.” He rolled his eyes and pulled away. We tried to park in another spot to which he followed us and yelled at us that we were not allowed to park there. I told him we were going to back up and just go to another place. The lifeguard woman then came up to our car and started yelling at us that there were too many people in the campground that were not supposed to be there. Though I am not sure how this had anything to do with us we pulled away and had to park at a funeral home down the road and walk. The campground is horribly run, is not kid friendly, and is overall not a fun or good place to be. If you’re thinking about camping here I would highly recommend and advise to go to another campground. They clearly do not care about their campers. Horrible place.
I had a campsite at Buttercup for 3 seasons and read all the reviews here. I would like to say Ed and Barb were wonderful. They deal with so many people and issues on a daily basis. They are both very honest and fair. They work long hours for the whole camping season. They and their 2 employees try to make it the best campground and they succeed. I read complaints saying they had too many rules. If you look at their rules you would see they are to protect everyone, and they do. There are events every weekend. I read complaints about rules at the pool. There have been no drownings so the rules work.
Then the remarks about Rita. Rita is the hardest worker on earth. If she said something to a kid in the pool, it was because the parents weren't managing their own kid. There may be people relaxing by the pool and don't want kids screaming and splashing everyone.
The prices in the store are better than any convenient store in the area. The showers and bathrooms are kept clean. Everyone of the rules are for everyones benefit. They have several playgrounds for kids. They have events and activities every weekend. The campground is awesome and it would be hard to find one as good. It would be almost impossible to find one better.
Ed, Barb and all the staff, we wish you the best.
