Gorgeous river that's good for floating and swimming on the beach that's down a trail right of the landing. The current is pretty strong, so be sure you're able to swim upstream. Gorgeous streams scattered throughout the spot, providing crystal clear, naturally filtered water that (I tested it) is safe for drinking. The streams get covered when the river rises, though. The area floods quite a bit when it rains, large areas fill with water due to all of the clay in the soil; and tadpoles reside in some of those areas! Not so great for fishing and the mosquitoes are horrendous.

Great place to come and hang for the day or camp if you are a primitive camper. Please remember to take the garbage out with you instead of leaving it here for us to have to deal with when we come to enjoy the same beautiful place. 😍 Also, if you are NOT familiar with the depths of the river or you or your children cannot swim, I beg you to put LIFEJACKETS on. INNERTUBES are NOT LIFEJACKETS in deep water for those who cannot swim.

This was a good spot for the night. Did not appreciate how stingy the park staff were with campers who did not have traditional ways of camping. We were in an RV which was fine but a nice gentleman (NOT HOMELESS) traveler who was in thier van got borderline harassed. Did not appreciate the immediate assumption that those not in an RV or tent are homeless and need to be kicked out in an area that clearly states it's for free overnight camping. It is clear they don't want people staying in the free tucked away area and instead gravitate towards pushing people to the expensive paid campground.

Amazing in some ways if you truly respect and love nature. Great work helping it be such a natural place to enjoy the outdoors. We were finding and seeing various kinds of wildlife. Thank you so very much.
