The campgrounds are fabulous nice and large spots with tables benches fireplace and fire pit
The campground host is very kind and and it won't cost you much to camp like some other s
The location is very close to silver lake and Kirkwood and caples there is great fishing and spots if you'd like to walk down to the water to swim
I'll start this review by saying the campground and surrounding area is beautiful and we will be coming back as it's a close and affordable getaway from Sacramento, but I was very disappointed with our site upon arrival. There was trash scattered about and even a dried up pile of human poo with toilet paper everywhere. There was a beautiful boulder at our site but it smelled like urine all around. We arrived after the office was closed so we had to do some major cleanup before even being able to set up our site.
We did enjoy our time there after the initial gross-fest though. Having access to the water so close to our campsite was a treat and the mountain air was absolutely refreshing. We got some rain our first night there too and were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow.
The only other issue I had was with the receptionist who seemed very impatient and unhappy to answer my questions on the phone.
We came in the grounds and into the bar one night during a storm while it snowed. After it died down we checked it out a bit and it looks like a beautiful place to one day come with the family! We were greeted by some great people staying here and great staff!
Back in the day, at this resort Bear River Resort, I had the most romantic experience in the world. He was on time, all the time. I know I will never forget that weekend, and can you believe I didn't even want to go because I barley knew Mr. Wonderful, bit soooo glad I did. So sorry to hear about the resort and the fire that took place.
