In South Lake Tahoe, CA, where US Rt. 50 and State Rt. 89 split into Rt. 50 east and Rt. 89 north, take Rt. 89 north (to Tahoe City) 16.3 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground.
Do not use lot 27,28 if you’re driving a trailer! The spots are sooo tight. Bob helped us back it in !! So there is the option for help.
Nice campground, clean and beautiful clean beach :)
Pros: It's a super spot if you want to stay a few feet away from the beautiful beach with the crystal clear water just for 30$ per night in a camp (cheaper than other spots), or 10$ for parking, parking lots are small, the beach is crowded on weekends, it has rocks under the water.
Cons: the camp itself is not well maintained, no soap in restrooms even in those close to the beach (remember 10$ for the parking), some campsites are small, close to the noisy road, and don't have a shadow (during summer time it's super hot). And the staff, unfortunately wasn't helpful and understanding, they didn't allow us to quickly pick up our heavy stuff from the beach and asked for money for the whole day parking even though we lived at this campground.
Went to Meeks Bay Campground to get some scuba in, and the family had a beach day. Showed up 7:45 am on a Sunday and had no problem getting parking or prime beach real estate. The staff was friendly, the restrooms were clean and it never got over crowded. I also appreciated the no boat zone to keep the swimmers safe.
The campground is small and quiet, has beautiful beach and crystal clear water! Host bob and his wife are helpful and friendly. The toilets are clean, always see people clean toilets! but no bathroom for campers! also dog can’t walk on beach! we had good time here! not sure my dog lol
Beautiful place, go with your family, pet friendly, at the end of the beach on the rocks you can swim with your pets, it’s so quiet and perfect for a beach day .
We use our paddle surf board but you or your kids can use floats , boats or kayaks etc.
There are picnic tables, cleaning restrooms , the staff that works are very friendly and they explain everything to you at the entrance. The entrance costs $10 to spend the day.
