Great place at an even better price! Very welcoming and caring hosts.
Almost 600 miles from home, pulling into this camp I was praying they had any openings, or a place with a toilet seat (long story).. or even a suggestion of a place to stay. I was on a journey, to see a friend and that was a total disaster. Mental health and addiction is a real thing, and definitely heavy. It was not a clean or safe space to stay. I'm blessed to say, I found a great safe place!! The camp host, he exudes a gentle soul and very gracious, and a wonderful spirit. He reminded me of my dad, whom I lost 10 years ago. And the family I met. So beautiful and kind and serving the lord. Thank you all for your kind words, the respect and the caring nature you showed me, a complete stranger. You're showing your nieces a great role model. Meeting all of you, Showed me we still have good, kind hearted people existing in our times these days.
Very clea, hot showers, running water, A beautiful creek. And one heck of a camp host!! I won't be in this area again. However, I recommend it! I made it home!! Finally! From the bottom of my heart thank you all!!!!
We planned to camp here for 4 days. We arrived and the price of the campground was almost double what the website has listed. Website listed $25/night covering 2 cars. Actual price when we arrived was $40/night and $5 for each vehicle with no vehicles included. The vault bathrooms were out of order and port-a-potties were up. The price being almost doubled basically cancelled our camping trip. You would think a national forest campground could keep their information up to date but apparently not.
I hate to say this because I’m a local that has been going down there for 20 years every other night. One side was always a free first come first serve day area where you could also camp, and the other was a reservation part of the campsite. I was just there on Friday, and when I came on Sunday to let my daughter run out some of her 4 year old energy I was stopped by the new owner basically asking what I was doing there and made me turn around and go back up to the entrance to pay for a day pass to be there for like 30 min. And I always go just before dark. And when I got back to the entrance nobody came out, and the new owner was just sitting in her vehicle and didn’t come out or anything. She just sat there after instructing me to come to the entrance. Soooo many locals will be disappointed in the new ownership. Hate to say I’ll NEVER go back there again!! After going almost every other night for the past 20 years. She was just so snooty and rude her whole bratty attitude ruined everything that place has been to this comunity!!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars for the location was because it’s a great piece of the forest. Some advice….this county is not like the city….your money won’t help you fit in here. You might wana try a little genuine niceness.
It’s a great place for the family and with friends from paying for a day pass to beat the heat in the river or to camping the new owners are awesome never had a problem . They even fixed it up n have hot water in there showers. I’ve been there 4 time with my kids or just me n my wife this year . I’m glade it’s still around so I can take my kids to a place I’ve been going since a kid . N hopefully they do the same. River ranch is a family tradition for my family. Can’t wait to next year to spend more weekends there to escape from reality n enjoy the views the campground has to offer~Jose munoz
