Great day trip, we went to scout out taking our 26 ft travel Trailer..Note, we won't be taking the trailer..It is a hard drive(but worth it) go early, and bring everything you need, no services..The camp grounds are clean and layout is convenient. June first, Tucson is suffering extreme heat, and we were basking in the sun at 68 degrees. Road was passable in any vehicle, but caution is the key word. A lot of dirt road, at least a 100 switch backs.

But a journey to remember, get out and enjoy AZ.

Not crowded at all during our trip and the lake was beautiful. Great escape from the summer heat in Arizona, and worth the drive if you can stomach it. Potable water was available at the entrance to the campsite, which isn’t always the case from what I read previously. The bathrooms probably could use to be emptied a bit more regularly, but they’re vault toilets so it’s only going to get so much better. It seems that some previous campers have left litter in some places, but I won’t fault the campground for it. Watch out for skunks and make sure to clean up any food or trash that could attract nighttime visitors.

Very clean and well-kept campground. When we visited on July 14th, a ranger was trying to keep a juvenile bear from getting too human-friendly by running it off. Spaces are quite comfortably separated and have ample parking, leveled tent pads, and retaining walls to support the parking and picnic/fire pit areas.

This a Beautiful 11 acre lake with a campground with about 20 small sites meant for tents. There is maybe 3 sites where a small 10ft trailer might fit. The road is a long paved, very windy road with the last 12 miles being VERY ROUGH dirt road. If you want to take your time to get there its worth it. There's also a boat ramp
