Roper Lake State Park is located 6 miles south of Safford in Graham County in southeast Arizona and sits at the base of Mt. Graham. There are three different campgrounds for lakeside camping as well as fishing, bird watching and water activities. This park is home to a large variety of bird species, offers great seasonal fishing, and is within close proximity to one of Arizona's most beautiful "Sky Island" mountain ranges. Comfy camping cabins dot the shoreline, and neighboring Dankworth Pond State Park offers hiking trails and more water access.
From town: Go 6 miles south on US 191, then 1/2 mile East on Roper Lake Rd.

A great state park! The people working here are very friendly and helpful. The camp sites are large and layed out very well for back-in parking with a RV. The lake is great place for fishing and to learn / practice your kayaking skills. Definitely a gem of a state park.
Had a wonderful time. Did not catch any fish, but a few others did. The park was clean. A great place to camp, fish, swim have a family friendly party. Shade and great picnic spots. Lots of people and still room to fish and swim and take a small boat out. As long as everyone is mindful of others then this is a great spot to spend the day and I'll be looking forward to spending the night! For a small town it's a great place to go. My Favorite place to camp! The lots are large and spacious. Clean restrooms as well as friendly staff constantly patrolling for trash and the like. The area is easy to navigate on bike or foot. We went Labor Day weekend and though the lake was not full (no swimming) it was quiet and relaxing! We rode our bikes around the 3.5 miles worth of paved paths/road.
Had just left Catalina State Park in Tucson to move closer to our home.
It was a small Park but neat as a pin with a GREAT dog run and shower housed just behind our space. They also have a security gate so nobody without the code can come in after office closes.
Wonderful campground
Large easy access campsite
Clean restrooms and shower area
