When these campgrounds are "closed" and there is no host, the public may still use them, providing the road is open. However, drinking water will not be available, and all toilets will be boarded up except for the one closest to the main boat launch, which will be maintained by employees and volunteers. As always, camping around Ashurst Lake is only permitted in designated sites and nowhere else for a one-mile radius around each of the campgrounds.
Great place for camping, fishing. It was my first time camping at Forked pine. I had a good time with my friends. The only thing that made my trip short was the wind. It was very windy all day and night.
What a Great Lake and campground. The campgrounds are conveniently located around the lake. You can fish all around the lake. The campgrounds have a fire pit, restrooms, trash can, firewood and water available. The restrooms are well kept and clean as it can be. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. You get a great view of the Milky Way.
Beautiful camp site. Love this hidden little treasure. Loved seeing all the wildlife. The Bald Eagles were our favorite. Our kids enjoyed seeing the Eagles catch fish. Camp host is super friendly.
Fyi.. the 4 mile road to get here is dirt. If you don't like traveling on ruff dirt roads this isn't the place for you.
Awesome camping location! Just an extension to Ashurst but has a little better camping locations and more wide open and also private. You will also get more sun on this side and not as much drive through traffic as main side.
I have another review on the Ashurst side that is more detailed
