Campsite: Grand Ole RV Resort & Market

We stayed 3 nights in order to visit Nashville. The park is about 30 minutes from downtown Nashville and about 20 minutes to the Grand Ole Opry. The sites in this park are level with compacted gravel but very close together. In spite of that we did not feel crowded. Ie....nobody was encroaching. As mentioned in other reviews the train goes by frequently. I can't imagine the people in those sites right below the track would feel very comfortable but our site was a little further away so it didn't really bother us. There did not seem to be any trains through the night. There is some road noise but not at night. The showers and washrooms were very clean. Wifi strength was good. What this park has going for it is the staff and the vibe of the park. There is live music every night and food available for purchase throughout the day. Also a well stocked camp store. The park provided a free Thanksgiving meal to everyone and it was excellent. We spoke to a couple who have stayed long term each year and they raved about the family feeling of the park. It is clear that the owners look after the place and are very friendly. There seemed to be new gravel everywhere. Not much grass by the sites but there is a large grassed area to walk your pooch. Overall if you are looking for a friendly place close to Nashville and don't mind being close to your neighbor, this is the place for you. We camped at Grand Ole RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Campsite: Ransom Road RV Park

We stayed for 2 weeks in December. This park is quiet, very clean and well maintained. Sites are level cocreate pads but are a bit close together. The bathhouse was pristine and cleaned every morning.

There is no pool or other amenities but they have a meeting room and hold various activities like bingo, breakfasts, yoga etc... We did not take advantage of any of that. There are two areas to walk your dogs. It is a place to stage for visits to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi and that suited us just fine. We looked at a number of RV parks in the area and other than Gulf Waters on Mustang Island, this park was the nicest. We would stay here again if in the area. Wifi was basic so we used our Starlink and had no issues.

Campsite: Rio Grande Village RV Campground — Big Bend National Park

We stayed 4 nights. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a paved parking lot with full hookups but the attraction is not the campground, it is the National Park which is spectacular. There is a very nice boondocking campground next door but it has limited services. There is water available as well as toilets and showers. If you want FHU the Rio Grand Village is your only option. It was just fine for us. If you have small dogs be aware of the Coyotes and Bobcats that frequent the area. Big Bend is a beautiful and is a must see.

Campsite: Fort Chiswell RV Park

We stayed one night on our way south. It was very convenient just off the I-81 and one exit south of the I-77. We booked the day of and there was lots of space available. Site was a pull through, level and long enough that we didn't have to unhook the toad. We have no idea what amenities are available as we were just passing through but there is a pool on site. Washrooms and showers were immaculate and freshly cleaned in the morning. We would have no issue staying for a couple of days and will keep this on our stop list when heading south. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.
