There are 6 well shaded hiker camps with picnic tables in this campground located right on the trail. They are spread out comfortably with shared outhouse toilets and bear boxes for food storage. Tent sites vary in size and level ground. Water source is close to all sites and easily accessible.
This historic campground doesn't have much privacy or seclusion, but it's serviceable enough to be comfortable to stay one night while passing through. There are picnic tables and the vault toilet was amazingly clean and honestly didn't stink! The water source is fairly close and the tent sites are all very level. There is a bear box for food storage which I highly recommend using as I had to shoo away a black bear (yelling and throwing rocks) that was approaching camp in the morning through the brush. Other sightings included a couple deer including a very cute fawn. I also should mention the excellent view of Mt. McGregor.
