Best as a place to stay the night waiting for the bus to Stehikin. There is a shelter and a very clean pit toilet.
This historic campground doesn't have much privacy or seclusion, but it's serviceable enough to be comfortable to stay one night while passing through. There are picnic tables and the vault toilet was amazingly clean and honestly didn't stink! The water source is fairly close and the tent sites are all very level. There is a bear box for food storage which I highly recommend using as I had to shoo away a black bear (yelling and throwing rocks) that was approaching camp in the morning through the brush. Other sightings included a couple deer including a very cute fawn. I also should mention the excellent view of Mt. McGregor.
