Campsite: Parkhurst Campground - Pipestem

Beautiful setting beside the lake. There seem to be just a few campsites, but at least two have concrete pads with picnic tables. $10.00 per night. No hookups or bath facilities, no playground, very few trees near the campsites, mosquitoes, and May flies were buzzing around...but it sure is a nice view! It's primitive camping at its best! Sadly, the people who had this site before us left lots of dog food scattered on the pad and a few food waste items. We cleaned up a bit - as much as possible, so it's ready for other campers to enjoy.

Campsite: Shady Firs RV Park

Lots of highway noise, as it is right on the highway, but it did become a bit quieter at night. The campground itself is very quiet and wasn't busy on the two midweek days we stayed there in late August. In fact there were only 6 other campers (with two appearing to be permanent campers) spread around the entire campground. It's a spacious campground, with water and electric. As the name implies, it IS very shady with large fir trees. No complaints other than there were only two small bathrooms which were both quite old, unkept and extremely dirty. Really unacceptable for use. They are also locked each day at 6:00 pm...and not unlocked until about 7:00 am. Strange! The camp hosts were not friendly and seemed uninterested in making any contact or giving any assistance. Also would take cash payment only.
