Campsite: Mills River Dispersed

We camped two nights over Labor Day weekend with our dog at North Mills River Campground. Although it was very rainy, the campground was nice. Our site was shaded and private though our closest neighbors weren't far away. And by the second night, most people had bailed from the rain. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and it was quiet at night. It's a nice location, close to Mills River, Brevard, Pisgah Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway. And there are a few trails right in this area as well. I would definitely camp here again and just hope for a little less rain.

Campsite: LBJ Lyndon B Johnson National Grasslands

My wife and I visited LBJ National Grassland for a hike while visiting the area. Parking at Cottonwood Lake, we hiked a few miles along the red trail. The trails here are multi-use for hiking and horseback riding. We visited in April when it wasn't too hot and there were a ton of wildflowers blooming. Overall, a nice area for hiking; I would return and hike more of the trails if I'm ever in the area again.

Campsite: Jamison Mill Park

We took our dog for a hike on the trails at Jamison Mill Park while visiting the area. There are about 6 miles of multi-use trails throughout the park for hiking and mountain biking. We hiked several of the loops with nice views of the forest and Philpott Lake. Some of the trails were pretty overgrown and downed trees and would be very difficult if biking. Overall, a nice place for a hike. Do watch out for ticks and other insect pests, we pulled a lot of our dog.

Campsite: Old Mill Campground — Bluestone Lake State Park

I was planning to camp two nights at Bluestone. The lady was nice at check in, but the site 3 was awful. Tiny patch of grass on top of the adjacent site with noisy neighbors playing music and singing until 2 in the morning. No fire ring or picnic table, so nothing to do except sit in the car. I packed up and checked in to a hotel after the first night.
