Campsite: HTR Moab

My husband and I stayed in one of the studio cottages during our trip to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Each cottage has a designated parking spot that assures guests always have a space close to their door. The cottage was spacious, exceedingly clean and comfortable. The location is away from the bustle of downtown Moab but only a couple minutes' drive away. It's also an easy drive to both national parks from the lodging grounds. The cottages have covered porches that are a good spot to relax in the fresh air in the evening. The staff is helpful with recommendations and provide a great list of free activities/scenic destinations. HTR Moab is a great value for the price.

Campsite: Austin’s Chuckwagon Lodge

This is one of my favorite places I've stayed during a vacation. Chuck Wagon Lodge has so much character. It's in the tiny community of Torrey, which is the ideal place to stay when visiting Capitol Reef National Park. The Chuck Wagon Lodge grounds have a motel-style lodge, cabins and a general store with additional rooms attached. The staff was friendly and helpful with my questions when we checked in. We booked the ground-floor room on the back of the general store. It's a snug, comfortable room; the bathroom is a bit smaller, but we loved being tucked behind the store. It was convenient to step out our front door and stroll around the corner to enter the store whenever we needed to buy a meal, snack or item we forgot to pack. The Capitol Burgers food truck frequently parks in the store parking lot for dinner, which is a can't-miss meal option. A fabulously eclectic store sits across the street, which is a fun place to buy local souvenirs and view the garden statues out front.
