Campsite: Bass' River Resort

4.25 out of 5 stars.

We stayed for two weeks here to (1) attend a mountain bike race and (2) a stop on our rv travels. It was nice having our campground almost the entire time to practically ourselves. Must have been a good time of year to be there. 😊. I will say they only have one set of a washer and dryer of which I do not recommend as they are in bad shape. Go to Cuba, MO for a nice wash house. But, please note that this is not necessarily their business to have great washers and dryers for campers because this place really focuses on weekend campers, horse back riding, great mountain bike trails and water activities. With that said, they do charge for just about everything meaning even .50 cents for five minutes of hot water for a shower, so be prepared to pay if you stay.

We had a nice stay though and the staff were very accommodating for our delivery of packages of which I am very grateful.

We do recommend for a nice stay and activities.

Campsite: Texas Route 66 RV park

A quaint simple place to stop whether just for the night or a week like we did while passing through. The location is good since it’s right off the freeway and you can have full hook ups if needed. The staff were very nice, the animals on the property were so sweet to see (donkey, cows, goats, sheep, ducks and chickens). We enjoyed our quiet stay and took advantage of the property a d tried to walk at least two miles a day or every other while there. Side note: the town of Shamrock is a close drive with a couple historical buildings. It’s small and of course older but worth checking out. There is very good steakhouse in town called the Metropole worth eating at as well.

Recommend for your rv stop over needs.

Campsite: Lake Stephens Campground

So disappointed in this campground. The park itself is very beautiful, it’s the campground area. The hosts that checked us in we’re nice but truly offered no information as to amenities, until we asked specifically about amenity items. Not a huge deal really, this was just something I thought was normal.

Once we pulled though, we had no way of knowing until we got there and already paid for the week that all spots were “so” close. All cars were parked everywhere meaning lining the small street on both sides as well as parked on any and all grass spots. It seems that people keep (pay for a spot) their rvs here during the week and come back on the weekends. That's great for them - it just makes it difficult for travelers really.

With that said, we got out a day early because once everyone arrived on Friday we would be in a pickle to get out. And, let’s not forget about adults and kids playing up and until if not beyond midnight on all days. It was rough when I had to work the next day. I was a bit disappointed.

Updating my review due to the park reaching out and explaining a bit more. I truly appreciate that.
