About Campground

Sitting right along the Deschutes River with less than 10 campsites, Wyeth Campground is a cozy and relatively private spot to enjoy nature. Natural Features: This campground is right next to the Deschutes River and just below the Wickiup Reservoir. Recreation: Boat fishing or drift fishing is the best way to catch fish since motorized boating is not permitted on this stretch of the Deschutes River. Facilities: Wyeth Campground can accommodate RV, trailer or tent-campers however electric and water hookups are not available. This is a no water facility so campers will need to bring their own supply. All sites are equipped with a picnic table and fire pit and the campground has vault toilets available. This facility also has a boat ramp to provide access to the Deschutes River. Nearby Attractions: Visitors enjoy traveling the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, known as Oregons Highway in the Sky, which climbs into the clouds on a 66-mile drive through the Cascade Range, weaving past snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes. Lava Lands Visitor Center in nearby Bend, Oregon, is a great starting point for visitors to learn about the diverse landscape and history of the area through interpretive programs and exhibits. Lava River Cave, located in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument is also nearby for campers to explore. At 5,211 feet in length, the northwest section of the cave is the longest continuous lava tube in Oregon.

Directions

From Bend, OR: Head south on Highway 97 for approximately 27 miles and 8 miles west on County Road 43, then you will see a sign for the campground on the sound side of County Road 43.

Simple little campground right on the river. I think any campground next to a River is automatically five stars. There is a bathroom, a small trashcan, fire rings, I took a bunch. There is no water other than the River. There is also a boat ramp

Loved the campground location and didn’t need facilities so it was great the first night. I wish it came with a camp host, the host is somewhere up the road at another location. At 3am the second night someone roared into the campground, shining headlights into my vehicle. Being the only vehicle camped that night this was unnerving. They left after a few minutes and apparently were only there to harass. I pay the fee to avoid this type behavior. I could have stayed nearby for free, unless they add a camp host I would not stay here again. Sadly.
