Got a tow from these guys on the recommendation of family members who have had great experiences with them. They absolutely did not disappoint. The facilities are lovely and clean, service is competent and friendly. We would absolutely recommend this outfitter to anyone heading into the BWCAW from the Ely area. We did not need to rent anything but their boats and gear looked well cared for and neatly stored. Our only disappointment is the missed opportunity for a play on words - 'Williams and Haul' would be perfect. Rude of them not to change their name and truly commit :)
I have done several trips (10 or more) through Williams and Hall, either as a couple with my wife, Father and son trips or with youth groups (up to five groups once!) as well as a Belize kayak trip. I can't give high enough praise for the the quality of service and personal attention I have received during these trips. The crew at W and H feel like family now and I can't imagine doing a BWCA or Quetico trip without them. Quality gear, great food and lodging as well as wonderful people!
We want to thank Charleen and Dave at William&Hall for setting us up for an amazing wilderness experience. They were knowledgeable, super helpful and provided valuable guidance. Rental equipment was in very good condition and clean. From your New Jersey paddlers friends.
I have known the owners of Williams and Hall for going on thirty years, now, and I think they are simply wonderful. In the past we've chosen to have minimal outfitting (basically canoes only), but this year we had then prepare our food and most of our gear. The outfitting was outstanding! The gear was excellent, the food was good and plentiful, and (best of all) the routing was expert. We stayed in the lodge before and after our trip and the rooms are rustic, but clean and big. We also ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room and the food was great. No one will go away hungry. Thanks to Dave, Blayne, Charlene, and the whole crew. You folks are wonderful!
Blaine and Ryan at Williams and Hall were amazing hosts and their property is stunning.
The entire staff was so helpful to our group of 3 adult leaders and 6 Scouts. This was our first visit to the boundary waters and we couldn’t have chosen a better outfitter.
