First time camping with Wild Oaks, we will be back. Family friendly, clean electric camp sites all within a short distance to very well taken care of shower/bathrooms. Very helpful staff, other campers were friendly and respectful. Peaceful during the day and night, live music on Saturday night was just perfect. Once that was over it was chill mode again. Loved it! Thanks for making our camping trip so relaxing and enjoyable!
Update: As you can see, I not only tested positive at home, but also at the Dr's office. So, it was very much a valid illness. If you guys prefer to offer a "BoGo" or tell customers they don't have to stay home when they have Covid, that is absolutely your prerogative.... I don't want to support any company who doesn't do their part to eradicate Covid. So, I hope you enjoyed my two-night donation.
Really disappointed that I have to write a negative review here, but people should be warned. I originally paid for a cabin earlier this month so we could go on a float. Our float got canceled due to storms, so we spent the time in the cabin. (Although it was rather annoying that we had to go find firewood at different places because the office wasn't open ONCE during our 2 days there) No big deal. I scheduled another stay with these guys for our rescheduled float (which was supposed to be this coming Tues). I tested positive for Covid today (I originally tested positive last week and spent 5 days in bed, sick as a dog, with a fever... I opted to restest before going back in public). I had no problem getting the float rescheduled/postponed through Majestic Floats... However, when I called Wild Oaks, the first woman told me she would have to call me back because she was in the middle of something. An hour and a half later- without even speaking to me- my credit card was charged the remaining amount for the cabin (which previously was finalized once I arrived to the campsite). When I called back, I spoke to a different woman who told me their policy is 10 days notice in order to get refunded (I wasn't even wanting a refund, just to reschedule), and she then said " I mean, you don't even have to stay home if you have covid anymore". Mind. Blown. Yes, you very much so DO need to stay home if you have covid. That mentality is why 3 years later, we're still dealing with this nightmare.
Moral of the story. I was not allowed to reschedule. And realistically, I'm not sure I would have wanted to at that point... if they are okay with contagious people roaming around just to make a few bucks, that isn't a place I feel comfortable staying anymore. The woman obviously could tell I was annoyed so she unethusiastically said she would give me a BOGO coupon for my next stay... I declined.
The whole thing was very poorly handled. And incredibly disappointing.
Me, my husband and our daughter had the best experience when we stayed. Great food and best service we have ever had. We can't wait to come back! The scenery was beautiful and the music was amazing as well. TheThe bathrooms was well kept up and very clean.
We always have a great time here. Campsite and cabins are clean and very well taken care of. It’s a fun place for both the young and old. I love that it’s a very family friendly atmosphere and the owners are wonderful. We always book a canoe trip too and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Niangua River.
Just returned from our family's annual float/camping trip and wanted to share a review of how awesome this place is. If you're looking for a place with hard drinkers wearing beads after a float, this isn't the spot. But if you want a gorgeous spot to spend time with family and lots of activities (basketball, swimming pool, arcade, playground, movie night, etc) run by cool folks, this place is amazing.
