Primitive camping now: no mowing, no water, no toilets. Tables, fire rings, lantern posts and hitching posts provided. Serves as a trailhead on Ozark Trail. Horses welcome.
From St. Louis, take Hwy 21 south to Potosi (60 miles); then, take Hwy 8 west to first stoplight Hwy. P; continue south on Hwy. P (ca. 12 miles) to Hwy C; go west about 5 miles to Hwy Z and turn north; campground is about 4 miles.
One of my favorite spots! I hike here and love these woods!
The is my favorite campground in the US. No showers and limited facilities, but it is beautifully natural and has cool, clean water. A great place. I will always stop here, when passing through. A truly hidden gem in the middle of the woods!
Great place to camp. Most campsites or right on the creek and if you go up the creek from the campgrounds I'm out an eighth of a mile there's a good swimming hole that is about 12 feet deep
The quick is beautiful and clear.
Campsites are very primitive. Can get pretty rowdy? I would recommend going through the week bring protection.
It's primitive camping. Which means no electric outlets, no restrooms. But it's away from the busyness of life. It's a chance to disconnect from the social status and reconnect with nature! I absolutely Love it out there! It's one of my Favorite places to go!
