This is one of my favorite places to hike. There is little foot traffic especially on the longer 4 to 9 mile hikes. The trails are clearly marked and easy to follow. You will see lots of wildlife here. My last hike I saw over a dozen deer, a snake, many lizards, a rabbit and plenty of birds. Make sure you take plenty of water, leave yourself more than enough time to get back by dark but bring a flashlight or fully charged phone/with light just in case! It's very dangerous trying not to walk off a cliff in the dark.
Very easy hike with tons of natural beauty... barley any water right now 04/16/23.. but will be back durring monsoon... met a good size reptile... named him/her Kia-wa 🦎
Went for a "quick" hike, however once getting there, it was amazing on how big it was and how well thought out the parking is. Roads paved, plenty of room. So decided on a longer hike. Best decision ever! Took Ford Canyon Trail.
Hike here with the Family, did the Black Rock trail and the Waterfall trail. It was my first desert hike and was absolutely beautiful. I really loved how well kept the park is. Trails are clearly marked, there are great maps available at the park's visitors centre. Pay your park fees up front, the volunteers there were helpful and friendly. I'd love to see more of this park and try some of the longer more challenging hikes, but if you only have a couple of hours I'd definitely recommend the waterfall and black rock trails.
