Just peaceful and beautiful. Large campsites. Great views.amazing food at BJ s bar..
My friends and I camped here for the night because we were tubing down the river nearby. The campsite itself was nice enough, it was one large lot where all the campers would stay, but there was a fire pit, bench, and picnic table.
The reasons I'm giving it a low rating are because it felt like we got scammed for the firewood, and it was super loud until around 3am.
We were told by the person checking us in at the bar that it would be $20 for firewood. When the man carrying the firewood on a golf cart came, he told us that it was $60. He started unloading the firewood before we could even protest at the insane cost. We ended up just paying him to avoid conflict, but that was 3x the cost. There are other places nearby that had cheap firewood for sale, so don't let them steal another $40 from you.
Some people left the bar area around midnight to 1, when my group was going to bed. They started playing rock on their loud speakers to keep their party going. Someone even drove by in a golfcart to tell them they were too loud, but they didn't actually stop until later on in the night.
I had messaged the FB to ask what time quiet hours were the day before, and they said they'd answer my questions when we checked in, but my questions were not answered.
The bathrooms were nice, but the water smelled really intensely like sulfur. It could just be the minerals in the water, or it could be something like bacteria.
Overall, it was a fun night there besides the being scammed for firewood and not being able to sleep until 3am. They had a volleyball court, and a cute creek nearby.
Just got here last night to check out their cabins. Sherri was very friendly and the process of checking in was super quick. The restaurant/bar served excellent fish and fries with a salad bar, as well as breakfast. Super friendly community with a very welcoming vibe. Beach, fishing for the kiddos, fairly priced drinks. Super quiet and nestled between beautiful bluffs. Will definitely come back again!
This is a nice, low key campground. Random swing sets around the park kept our toddler busy and entertained as needed. The trout ponds are absolutely awesome, and the catch and release pond for children is great. A small natural trout steam running on the edge of the campground offers fishing opportunities for those interested. Large soft sand bottom pool was fairly clean and well kept. Most of the seasonal campers were friendly and respectful partiers which was a lot of fun, but when it was time for bed the noise was very reasonable.
The Belgian waffles at BJs bar were nothing short of fantastic. We will definitely be back.
