Mermaid Cove is a great neighbor. We needed a temporary slip for our boat and we were able to rent a safe, secure place. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
We paid for a “premium site” and ended up with a spot by the rode overlooking construction. We couldn’t even see that there was a lake. They then move us to a “better” site where “people pay to live” and instead had a view of a different side of a large construction area, where they were also burning wood and debris throughout our stay. We did get to watch a man hosing down his vehicle to prevent the flying, burning debris from scorching his car.
We went down to the office (we finally found a lake) to set up our jet ski adventure according to what was advertised on the website, only to find there are no jet skis. We were offered a pontoon boat instead at a discounted rate, but when we called back to set this up, they told us it was no longer possible. We had to drive quite a distance to find jet ski rentals that were available. We left 2 days early just because it was a complete rip off, extremely frustrating and false advertising, and there was literally nothing to do for families near by. I would never recommend this place. It is a scam. I see why there is a 7 day cancellation policy because if anyone showed up and saw the situation they would not want to stay after all of the false promises of the website.
Mermaid Cove has been our home away from home for many years. Multiple times we have had friends and family come visit and end up staying because they love the Cove! They are constantly working to improve the resort for their tenants and their guests. From the staff to all of the amenities Mermaid Cove is a one of a kind RV resort and will always be recommended to anyone looking for a clean, safe, fun, and family friendly resort!
We just stayed at Mermaid Cove, and unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. As some of the other reviews have pointed out, Mermaid Cove is more of a long-term RV resort. There are very few spots for weekend/traveling RV campers, and those spots seem to be at the very back of the resort away from the water. The new “pull-through” spots that we had (we're a family with multiple rigs) were horrible. The spots weren’t level whatsoever (front to back), the spots were so close together that I had to retract my awning so my brother could pull his rig next to my site, and the worst part is, the sites were right next to P Rd. When I say right next to P Rd, I mean the front of your rig will be within 20 feet of P Rd, which is a public road. There isn’t room to park your car behind the rig, so you had to either pull into your spot from P rd, or stop on the road and back into your spot…and P Rd is a fairly busy road. It really doesn’t feel like you’re a part of the resort at all in those sites.
My parents also stayed in the covered glamping wagon, and that wasn’t a great experience for them as well. No cell phone signal, Wi-Fi didn’t work most of the time, and no TV. The picture of the wagon on the Mermaid Cove website doesn't accurately depict how it's situated because the wagon is actually located right next to the pier/tiki bar/roads. With the walls/ceiling being made of cloth, there were nights they couldn’t get to sleep until well after midnight because all of the noise/music from the bar and boat/car traffic.
The resort has plenty of construction going on, and hopefully they’ll be more accommodating toward traveling RV campers in the future. Either way, unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be going back. Too expensive for the quality and size of sites, and we feel the website doesn’t accurately depict what you’re paying for.
We moved to Mermaid in May. We did not have a way to get our RV over to our site. Steve and Melissa came to our old campground to check out the situation for us. We received a phone call later that day saying they were coming over with their truck to bring it to our new campsite. Steve, Mike Belt, Tya and Scott came over to get us moved. They brought the camper to our spot and even helped us get it in place and leveled. Talk about going out of their way to make us feel at home. Steve has also loaned us a trailer numerous times to bring lumber in to build a deck by our shed. Couldn’t appreciate it anymore than we did. Our campsite is perfect and spacious with a nice fire ring for the cool
Evenings. The newly redone pool area and the tiki bar are a fun place to hang out to get a cool refreshment and play corn hole or pool and listen to music. They plan activities monthly for everyone to join and instill a sense of community here. The gals that bartend at the Tiki bar are as sweet as can be! The Sea store is furnished with pretty much all the things you may need to camp comfortably. Moving here was one of the best decisions we have made. Come stay-you won’t regret it.
