From Interstate 5 (I-5) Northbound or Southbound - Follow I-5 to Chehalis. Take exit 77/Main Street and turn west onto Highway 6. Follow Highway 6 west for 17.1 miles to Chandler Road. Turn right (North) onto Chandler Road and follow for 0.3 miles to Leudinghaus Road. Turn right (east) onto Leudinghaus Road and follow for approximately 0.7 miles to the entrance to Rainbow Falls State Park.
Sweet lil day use area with pavillion, grills sinks. Clean restroom with flush toilet and sink. Also a few dozen campsites. Clean and Serene.
Important for hikers and hiking: there is NO BRIDGE from parking area to trails. Looks like there once was a bridge but is long gone.
Another “One of the better parks in Washington “ parks. Very lovely setting along the Chehalis river. The falls offer a good feature to the area. Obviously the main feature but you wouldn’t know it. This state park has ample camping for both tents and trailers. Very well maintained on all levels. It’s with out a doubt the first state park with clean restrooms. A big plus when in the woods for a few days. Off the main highway but it’s worth the detour. Great place.
Amazing campground with clean and well kept facilities. There are campgrounds along the river that are well treed and great for families so you have direct access to the river.
We had a group at the larger group site and plenty of room for cars and tents. Lots of picnic tables for food prep with trash bins at the group site and running water. No bears in the area either. The firepit was huge and had the flip over grill grate if you want to grill over the fire.
The river is amazing and jumping into the falls was a highlight of the trip. You can paddle board as well or just hang out in the slow parts of the river. The water was a great temperature even in June.
There is a large open field with lots of sun for games or hanging out, and they have a kids play structure too.
Love this spot and will be back!
This is one of my favorite places! There is a nice trail that intersects the Willapa Hills Trail and runs parallel to the Chehalis River. You can climb down to the falls when the river is low, or you can stand on the side and look at it when it's high. Also they have ample parking, lots of awesome camping spots with electricity and water. There is a day use hygiene building with two clean hot showers. There is a bit of a smell in the drain, but it gets hot if you need a shower. The showers are on the back side of the bathrooms in the day use parking area. They have an RV sewer dump station at the front of the park as well. V
