From Leavenworth, WA, travel southwest on US-2 West for 15 miles. Turn right onto WA-207 North and go 10.5 miles. Turn right onto White River Road and go 6.3 miles. Take a slight left onto White River Road/Forest Road 6400. The campground is down the road about 2 miles on the right.
It is nice and very private. You definitely need a car built for the tough road.
However, bring a lot of mosquito repellant. We forgot ours, and had to leave early due to them feasting on us.
Very sedate campground. Beautiful old trees. It's near a river so there are huge swarms of mosquitoes. The road to this campground is rough. Possible in regular car IF you go slow.
I axamined the grasshopper campground on May 15th,2019 and found them to be in poor condition. There was trash, broken bottles in the fire pits.It looks like the campsites do not get maintenance performed on a daily/weekly basis. The road is blocked further down 1/4 miles by a 4 foot diameter tree blocking the entire road to the next camp ground. It looks to me that the grasshopper campsite would be very nice if the maintenance was kept up.Afraid to open the doors and look at the volt toilets! Lol!The scenery is fantastic!
Very beautiful, We camped there this weekend. Bring bug spray. There are people living in the woods up there so be careful, there is also a religious group up there that believe that is there land and our kinda nasty to people enjoying the wilderness. I informed the Rangers but there friends so won't enforce the rules for them. They have trail access blocked off saying it's private. It's not legal to do that
Grasshopper Meadows campground is a good campground next to the White river.
A. few trails go to White River in a very short walk under 10 minutes.
Nice scenery to take photos of when it's a nice day.
A few good picnic tables.
