Made a quick stop to take in the sunset for about an hour before heading back to my airbnb. There are some great sunset view spots along a trail at the end of the parking lot. The trail also starts from various other spots it looks like also.

Beautiful and relatively easy hike to spectacular views! Take the primitive trail if you're able.

The spit is beautiful to walk out on, surrounded by scenic views in all directions. Make sure to get there well before high tide if you intend to walk to the end. There's small admission price which is covered by the America The Beautiful pass but NOT the Discovery Pass, so just a heads up you might need to bring some cash if you don't have that pass.

I had originally intended to go on the spit towards the lighthouse, but there were so many people I decided to walk the opposite direction. I’m so glad I did! The beach is so clean, and I enjoyed the view so much. It was really neat watching a bald eagle flying above me, and he got fairly close at one point. I saw two cargo ships and one cruise ship. This side of the beach wasn’t crowded at all, and so I really got to have some good “me time” without having to dodge people the entire time.

The trail to get to the beach is also an easy one. There’s only one hill that you have to worry about and that’s just before you get to the beach itself. It isn’t too terribly steep so easy for kids as well.

Gorgeous beach. Great for bird watching, picnicking or a hike to the light house. Nice to watch the sun go down behind the mountains. Highly recommend a visit. Bring cash for the $3 day use fee unless you have an America The Beautiful pass.
