About Campground

Popular with Off-Highway Vehicle users, the Voyager Rock camping area is located on the east shore of Courtright Reservoir off of the Dusy-Ershim trail. Large Lodgepole pine trees provide shade to the campsites and most sites have lake views. Each site has a table, grill, and bear box. Vault toilets are provided. The campground is accessible only by Off-Highway Vehicles.

This is Bear Country. Please store food properly and don’t feed the bears. Bring mosquito repellant.

This is a “Pack it in, pack it out” facility. Please take your garbage with you when you leave.

Directions

Take Hwy 168 east from Clovis towards Prather. Continue through Prather towards Shaver Lake. Just before you reach Shaver Lake turn right on the Dinkey Creek Road. Travel 11.7 miles east to the intersection of the Dinkey Creek Road and the McKinley Grove Road. Turn right and travel 13.6 miles north on the McKinley Grove Road to the Courtright Reservoir turnoff. Turn left and travel north 7.5 miles to Courtright Lake. At Courtright lake there will be a junction in the road. Turn right towards the Maxson trailhead. Travel north for 3.3 miles to the Maxson trailhead. At the Maxson trailhead take the Dusy Ershim Off Highway Vehicle Route. Follow it for 1.8 miles to Voyager Rock Campground.

Beautiful campsites next to Courtright reservoir. Pit toilets no running water. You need a 4 wheel drive vehicle with good clearance to access the campsites. This keeps the a lot of the rift raft out. Go early on a Thursday to secure a good lakeside campsite for the weekend.
