Used to sail here as a kid and anchor in Smugglers Cove and Spoon Bay. Now we motorboat over and anchor in coves. Great swimming and hiking. Absolutely love Valcour Island.

Beautiful park-like island with beaches and cliffs. Hiking, swimming, paddling etc. First come free primitive camping with no facilities. Access from Peru boat launch. Waves can be huge on windy days.

We tried to anchor in Bluff point bay July 21, 2023. Very noisy with people playing xtra loud party music till late. No control from any authority around. Very desapointing experience. A big downfall from from previous experience at this place.

We parked at the Peru boat launch for a nice, little paddle over to the island in our kayaks. The seas were a bit rough, but nothing the kayaks couldn't handle. We hiked on a trail around the island on a bright, sunny day. Unfortunately, there are some rather large colonies of invasive plants on the island, particularly Japanese Knotweed, purple loosestrife, and great reed. But, all in all, a nice day outing of hiking and kayaking.
