This campground has diversity of campsites from shaded to open. The shades sites are close to one another. The less shaded ones are now spread out. Ther hosts keep the bathrooms exceptionally clean. I would definitely camp here again.
Good campground, but tricky road in and out of the place because it is one-way. Since the road is lined with large rocks, it can be a challenge getting around another vehicle. Camping spots are a good size. There is a hiking trail located at the entrance of the campground. Trash bins, vault toilets, and non-potable water is available. We would consider coming back. Recommend the camp host post a full (no vacancy) sign at the entrance when the site is full. We had a lot of traffic coming through looking for open spots, and there were none.
I visited this campground Labor Day of 2023 and could not have better things to say about the experience. Not only was natural scenery gorgeous, but the campgrounds were kept impeccably clean by the area/site managers. I haven't ever experienced a cleaner camp bathroom. If that weren't enough, when my car battery unexpectedly died, the campground managers Jason and Marv helped me through the entire process of changing my car battery.
Amazing spot. Out of the way of all the other traffic heading to Mirror Lake and all the other campgrounds before it from Kamas.
There are several bad reviews on here about Wally Pete. Wish we could see who is the camp host before booking because we are amongst the many that will not return if Wally Pete is still there, he needs to retire retire if he is in such a power struggle because he's ruining the experience for many people. We leave to have a great experience, mostly free of people. This was my first time camping in over 3 years due to a mobility injury.
I booked our spot 4 months ago, it required a 2 night stay if you were staying a weekend. Our event was 7/30, So I booked 7/29 and 7/30 because it was required. As most people have, we had a crazy work week and didn't hit the road until Saturday.
We set up camp and are met with the host saying "Sorry this is booked."
Yes, it is booked by us, here's a screenshot. Well is your name on the post? Yes.
We'll you're lucky, you booked this for the 28th so now it's no one's spot.
No, we actually just missed yesterday because they required a two-day booking.
Who's "they?" I'm in charge here, this is my decision.
Recreation.gov, you're above all those federal agencies?
"Well, they don't know."
He called me "honey" and dismissed me. It's 2022, we don't call women honey to dismiss them, give me a break. I'm the one that booked the site.
If you REQUIRE people to book two nights over the weekend, I feel like some people are going to miss that first night because of work schedules and unpredictable hiccups.
Wally has very little people skills.
Overall the site was GORGEOUS, our one night here was spectacular besides Wally.
