As Utah’s newest state park, Echo State Park has a long rich history of outdoor recreation to include camping, boating and fishing. The dam and reservoir (1,394 surface acres) were constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) during the Great Depression of the 1930s for agricultural irrigation and in the late 1960s, local Coalville area residents began running the recreation concessions for the reservoir and resort on the property.
In late 2017 the BOR contacted Utah State Parks concerning the recreational management of the federal property. Echo State Park joins eleven other BOR parks where the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation manages the recreational operations on the water body. Conveniently located in northeastern Utah, Echo State Park boasts year-round recreation opportunities for its visitors. Echo State Park offers primitive camping and a day-use area with easy beach access.

Very nice reservoir! My husband and I did the 4 dollar walk in rate, so we paid only 8 dollars for an afternoon of swimming! The beach was nice, and had plenty of shade trees. The spot we went to seemed pretty popular since the other half was under construction. The water was nice, there were some cool rocks around, and we had a great time! The only thing we noticed was that there were pieces of glass around our spot, so we had to be extra careful. But everything else was so fun!
Allways beautiful place to visit. Fishing camping or just a relaxing walk near the lake , Sunday drive vibe
Our new favorite beach!!
Even though the lake is really low it's perfect to hang out on the beach and paddle board/ kayak. Only $6.00 for the day vs $20 at Jordanelle! Less crowded and you can drive right down the boat ramp then right on the beach and drive to your spot, unload and enjoy!!! 😃 Awesome! Shallow water by beach. Perfect for kids to play. Not super for boating right now. Launch at your own risk.
We were there labor day weekend on Saturday and there were plenty of spots all over the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were out of commission but they had several honey bucket toilets to use that were fine.
Very nice temp around 51 degrees. I got there at 4 morning. Mostly bass catch and release. Have good fish out there. Very good lake expect crowd no good for boat fishing lol
First off, the main place is under construction. We went to the campground south and asked where we could go and were told of two turnouts we can park in to get down to the water.
We went to the turnout just north of the campground. The walk down to the water and it was not bad at all!! The water was cold but refreshing. The sand was nice but a lot of sticks. Our daughter loved it! The dogs loved it!
The wake wasn't bad until the wind picked up in the afternoon and it was not good kayaking. Definitely go in the morning! We loved it! We will definitely be back once the construction is done.
