About Campground

Overview

The Little Cottonwood Campground is conveniently located off Utah's I-15, adjacent to the Beaver River just outside of the community of Beaver in the Fishlake National Forest. At 6,500 feet in elevation, this is a great place to enjoy the mountains where recreation opportunities include stream fishing, hiking, and hunting.

Recreation

Enjoy fishing in the Beaver River; an accessible fishing path is located within the campground. The Piute ATV Trail is nearby; however there is no access directly from the campground. Be prepared to trailer ATVs to the nearby trailheads for access.

Nearby Cottonwood Trail is a horse and foot trail that is accessed through the lower part of Cottonwood Campground. This rugged trail will lead southwest for about the first two miles and then takes a sharp turn to the east through Horse Flat.

Facilities

The campground has fourteen single-family campsites, two of which are accessible units available for reservation. All campsites are paved and have picnic tables and grills. An accessible restroom with flush toilets serves the campground. Potable water is available during the summer season. RVs up to 40 feet in length can be accommodated; no hook-ups are available.

Natural Features

Common vegetation includes cottonwood, aspen, pinion, juniper and ponderosa pine trees. A majority of campsites at Little Cottonwood are well-shaded.

The Fishlake National Forest offers spectacular vistas and opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitat. Elk, deer, black bear, moose, cougar and mountain goats are some of the large animals that call the forest home.

Directions

Travel east of Beaver approximately 6 miles on SR 153.

Quiet secluded spots. Camp host is friendly and does a great job keeping the bathrooms clean and the sites in good repair. Running water in the bathroom and at each site. Interesting collection of insects all over the place. Most sites are well shaded but bring an awning to cover any extra exposed seating area. Several spots have large cement covered driveways for campers but no obvious hookups (we didn't bring a camper). Some spots have tent pads and some don't.

I have been coming here for over 20yrs, we love this campground, it's private, only 14 sites, flush toilets, a creek running through it, a hidden gem

We love this campground. We visit several times year. It's close to several fishing areas. I wish cell service (AT&T) was better, as there really is none. We have to drive in to Beaver in order to use our phones. Our last experience was a little less perfect. We reserved online, but when we arrived, found someone else in our spot. Camp hosts acted like it was no big deal, and suggested we just "grab another spot". We reserved a handicap spot because we need it. The people that were setup in our spot were out four-wheeling and didn't get back for several hours. Overall, it was inconvenient and annoying. I'm hoping that's a one-off situation, and going forward everything will be great.

Great campsite! There is a good amount of privacy between sites. Flush toilets that are well cleaned. It was veryyy windy the night i stayed and i barely noticed in my site because the surrounding trees sheltered the area. The river is rushing, definitely not something you can get in. I have tmobile and had no service.

Hosts John and Belinda are so great. We loved the dog friendly nature of the camp, love love love the creek running fast and cold, love the trees and shade of the sites, and the views! Nearby Ponderosa Picnic area is super awesome, too, but stay away from Kent's Lake as it's a terrible stinky bog. The host said that side are lovely, to be sure, but the lake itself is so terribly stinky. Little cottonwood campground is far better in my opinion and experience. My favorite part of Little Cottonwood campground is the very disabled friendly path to the creek and the seating there. What a gem!!
