We spent a week at the Sow's Ear cabin, which is part of the Trinity River Adventure Cabins. It was a wonderful week! The cabin is really nice and is supplied with everything one could need and then some. Beds are very nice and the furniture is so comfortable. It has a beautiful large covered patio with very comfortable furniture. It faces the Trinity River, which you can see from the patio. We spent a lot of time on the patio.
Wildlife is abundant, which we loved! We took a walk the first night and a little way from the cabin we came upon 13 deer in a field. They paid little attention to us as we watched, took pictures and walked by. We discovered that the deer roam the area and they would often go right thru our front yard as we sat on the patio.
Steph and Heidi couldn't have been nicer! They were so friendly and ready to help in any way needed. They were delightful to chat with. You felt like you had known them for years. They have a beautiful patio right on the river which they encouraged us to use at any time. We spent lovely times watching the river and enjoying the scenery. We even saw a beaver in the river right out from the patio!
The neighbors in this rural mountain area were extremely friendly and chatted with us on our walks. We saw very few cars and it a very quiet area. In the cars we did see, every single one of the drivers waved to us. The trees are so beautiful in the area-just spectacular scenery!
We look forward to returning to Sow's Ear! Loved it and Steph & Heidi!!

Our family of 5 needed to get away so we could focus on work we had not been able to get to. We came to the right place. The cabin was perfect. The hosts were excellent. We were able to do some work down by the river, enjoy the stars while lounging in the hot tub at night, and all while avoiding the nuisance of cell phones.
If we had the time, we would have loved the stand up paddle board and kayak lessons offered by our hosts. Maybe next time. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
We stayed here for the fourth of July weekend. We had my family of 5 plus my cousins family of three. Even with 4 adults and 4 kids we had plenty of space and peace. Heidi and Steph are truly amazing hosts, they were so accommodating and involved, they even hooked up the fire hose and let my boys practice firing it off. It was such a great place to stay, we will absolutely be back!
Amazing experience! Not only was the house clean, cozy, and well equipped, but the hosts were incredibly friendly and willing to help make sure we got as much out of our trip as possible. They offered exploring insight, paddle boarding lessons, friendly conversation and so much more! We came for a bachelorette party and felt more than welcomed. The house was in good standing (furnished kitchen, comfy sitting spots, great air conditioning) and able to accommodate many sleepers. The hot tub and river across the street were lovely for both day and night time activities. Close to adventure spots, water, and we saw many deer as we enjoyed our meals on the front patio. Only thing to keep in mind is phone/internet service is minimal so enjoy your time there to unplug and fully relax (:
Definitely would visit again, 3 days wasn't enough!
Oh my god! What a place! Heaven! The cabin is perfect in size and layout. We enjoyed cooking and having a fire outside. We quickly discovered an awesome bbq place in town and my teenage boys insisted on doing lunches there. Well, they also sell pizzas to bake at home 🤦🏽 so we didn’t end up cooking as much as I planned. Which was good, because we were fishing All DAY! Steph and Heidi are welcoming amazing hosts. Every thing we needed they got it for us. They are generous, respectful of one’s privacy and accommodating.
Going back there again probably every year in the near future. I don’t have pictures from the trip because I made a point to just cherish the memories in my heart this time, and there were a lot of them this time around.
