Map your fun day from Atlanta, Anderson, Clemson, Danielsville, Bowman, or Athens to the best Broad River outpost in north Georgia known as The Sandbar Kayaking and Restaurant. Come experience Northeast Georgia's beautiful Broad River. If you arrive at another kayaking rental service called Broad River Outpost on hwy 281 you are not at the correct location. We are not the Broad River Outpost. We are the Broad River Outpost and more!! The Sandbar broad river Kayak rentals and shuttle service is located on hwy 172 off of hwy 72 from Athens. Come have some fun at the best Georgia Zip Lines.
Directions from Athens
Take Highway 29 Towards Athens Tech, take a right at Athens tech onto Highway 72, Stay on 72 until you reach Highway 172 on the left (you will pass through hull and Colbert before you reach 172). Stay on Highway 172 for about 9 miles until you see the Sandbar on your right!
Took the Zip Lining tour and had a blast! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous above the trees, and you get to go over the Broad River more than a few times. The staff was very friendly and excellent guides!

It was my first time ever in a kayak. The experience was both exhilarating and traumatic - like being trapped in a reality show.
I'm not sure I would have survived my drama without Melissa!
Gosh I love this place after 10 years of coming here! The staff is always beyond accommodating and friendly. They all seem to love their jobs, and it's refreshing to be around that energy! 😍 Thank you Natalie and the lady with short dark hair and the man who helped us get our kayaks out of the water (I wish I knew their names!) who all ended our trip down the river so perfectly! The adventure itself is the ice cream....the Sandbar staff is the cherry on top!
Words could never express how appreciative I am of the owners here. They truly made a once a year (possibly once in a life time for my
Group) event amazing. I can’t wait to go back to enjoy the kayaking and have friends so excited after the pictures I took from where I stayed. Thank you for everything.
