Limestone Recreation Area alongside North Indian Creek in beautiful Limestone Cove. Many people take advantage of the cool shade near the creek to picnic. The cool swift waters of North Indian Creek provide excellent habitat for trout. A portion of a rail line that once traveled between Unicoi and Limestone Cove is still visible in the picnic area.
From Unicoi, take TN 107 east 3.5 miles to Limestone Cove Recreation Area. The picnic area is on the left.
Pleasant picnic area with a creek. No trash cans though so be sure to take your trash with you. Also no restroom that I could see.
It's fine, but pretty run down. People leave their trash all over the place. Budget cuts under the last administration reduced necessary funding for most public parks. One result is there aren't enough employees to clean up after thoughtless people who don't care about their community, their nation or their fellow citizens, and so these beautiful places don't shine as brightly as they could. Love your country! Pack it in - pack it out. It's the American way.
It's a great place to take the kids, they loved playing in the creek that runs by there. It's shady and well taken care of with picnic benchs and space to park. Would definitely recommend visiting often.
Creekside parking with picnic tables. Some had grills. Bathrooms and a roadside parking lot if the "private" areas are full. It was a beautiful day and we only saw a couple other people. We will definitely go back. Shallow creek area was great for smaller kids and pets.
