Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this classic example of 1930s CCC architecture is perched above a chalky blue spring - Sweetwater Spring - that creates a stream feeding Juniper Creek. It is one of the most popular and secretive getaways in the Ocala National Forest.
Access is via a sand road off SR 19 north of SR 40. Full driving directions will be provided with your rental.
I've traveled to many wonderful places but this is a top spot. Hope to win a spot again.
One of the finest places On Earth!
3.5 miles of National Wild and Scenic River...and the only cabin on the south side? Brilliant!
Our family friend was able to get a weekend at the Sweetwater Cabin in Ocala, and we were able to come too! It was a dream. Something I needed for a very long time. We sat by the campfire, jumped in the spring with the fish, and since it happened to be Halloween weekend, we all brought pumpkins to carve! I also slept amazing in the cabin, really cozy. I also brought my metal detector and found bullet casings! (Guns are not permitted, however.) It created such meaningful memories and I really recommend going.
