About Campground

Located just 4 miles outside of Ely (on the edge of the Boundary Waters), Silver Rapids is located on a vast private peninsula with water on three sides, allowing for some of the best fishing around. You can discover the waterway amongst the 20 miles of open shoreline on any of the four lakes to which you’ll have access.

The Tomahawk snowmobile trail is located right outside the lodge. Spend the day snowmobiling and exploring the local trails. Come back to enjoy a nice dinner and relax in our Hearthside Lounge. Cross country ski on our private groomed trails. Try your luck ice fishing right outside your cabin. We have plenty to do to occupy your time.

Loved this place! Very quiet. I loved that there were docks to fish from. The docks do need some TLC. The room was clean and comfortable. Definitely want to make an entire family trip for sure.

I stayed in the narrows 2 cabin. I'm giving Silver Rapid Lodge five stars, however, you'll want to bring some items to make this enjoyable. Read the reviews before booking and know what to expect.

The cabin is old but clean. This is a rustic cabin experience located on a small waterway between two lakes. The cabin is next to a lightly used road and therefore traffic noise won't be an issue. Heating and air conditioning are provided in the form of an old box fan and a small space heater. During my stay the outside temperature fell to 36°F two nights in a row. The cabin was chilly but not freezing cold. The bed was as expected but I brought a mattress topper, 20°F rated sleeping bag, and pillows.

The bedrooms don't have electrical outlets. There are two outlets that I could find. One in the kitchen and one in the living room. Plan for that.

Bring food and charcoal if you want to grill. Or buy it in Ely when you get here. There's a gas oven that works great, a full size fridge with internal freezer, microwave and toaster. They provide utensils including a cutting knife, spatulas, wine opener, lots of forks and spoons. There is a bar and restaurant located a few steps away. I didn't stop in during my visit but they have burger and pizza items.

The hot water lasted a full shower and plenty of pressure. The water doesn't stink which I appreciated. The place was very quiet. Great location and views. You're a short twenty minute drive from two State Parks. You can walk five feet to the water and fish or put in a canoe. I saw there are side-by-side rentals and a canoe outfitter across the road. I didn't use either however.

Come here knowing what to expect and this will be a great experience. Also, the cabins were listed at a great price. I would stay here again.

Nice old lodge with lots of atmosphere. I really liked it. Accompanying me were my wife, teenage son & dog. My son slept on the sofa bed. The room, bathroom, kitchenette & balcony were clean. I was grateful for the balcony because it gave me a place to put out all of my wet things from our canoe trip on the lakes. It was a nice place to take a walk with the dog as well.

I stayed in a motel room here for one night while it was raining and I took a break from camping. I loved the retro vibe here and really appreciate the appliances are being given their full life, which is an incredibly eco-friendly thing to do. Having a view of the lake made this stay magical and peaceful. I loved going to sit out on the dock to relax. Check-in and out was a breeze. I hope to be back for a longer stay sometime.

This review isn't to bash, this is truly my honest review of the resort. And this is just one room not the whole resort grounds.

Rooms were mediocre if you aren't concerned about looks. We stayed in the motel part for one night only, as our trip was for BWCA. So the room served its purpose. But I definitely was concerned with the water spots on the ceiling, ceiling tiles warped near falling, mold in the shower, the bathroom was half remodeled might as well finished it. Stove had warm feeling almost as if it was still running. The refrigerator was questionable. I feel the motel side has some real potential just need to take of the bad, as a business I don't feel that there should be mold and water stains on the ceiling.

Service was very friendly and helpful, location was great and easy to get to, views were beautiful.
